Job Summary

The Surgical Technician assists the healthcare team during the intra-operative period by preparing and handling surgical instruments and equipment, and assisting the surgeon during procedures. This role requires knowledge of procedures across patient age groups (neonate through geriatric), the ability to prioritize and problem-solve in dynamic surgical environments, and readiness to respond immediately in urgent or emergency situations. Basic knowledge of medical terminology, the metric system, and aseptic technique is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain aseptic technique during surgical duties to ensure positive patient outcomes.
• Care for, prepare, handle, and maintain surgical instrumentation.
• Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts consistently according to policy.
• Adhere to professional standards of practice.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
• Completion of high school education or equivalent (GED).
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification.
