    Description

    Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

    Location: Cortez, Colorado
    Employment Type: Travel
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Summary

    Provide nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department using appropriate nursing procedures. Deliver safe, efficient, and courteous care while demonstrating knowledge of growth and development, disease processes, and patient assessment. Utilize critical thinking and evidence-based knowledge to improve patient outcomes. Collaborate with healthcare team members and assist physicians with patient care and procedures.


    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado (Compact license accepted).
    • Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year.
    • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
    • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
    • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.

    Experience

    • Minimum 1 year of experience in Emergency Room or inpatient nursing preferred.
    • No explicit prior travel experience required.

    Role Responsibilities

    • Practice within nursing standards and follow policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.
    • Provide patient-centered care, supervise non-professional staff, and assist physicians.
    • Maintain knowledge of basic arrhythmia interpretation.
    • Administer medications safely and adhere to documentation policies.
    • Participate in educational programs and departmental meetings.
    • Assist with peer and staff evaluations, data collection, and chart reviews.
    • Maintain safety and infection control standards.
    • Adapt to changes in workload and patient needs promptly.
    • Collaborate positively with team members and demonstrate flexibility with shifts.

    Work Environment & Physical Demands

    • Exposure to infectious waste, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and occasional aggressive patients.
    • Moderate to loud noise levels; possible exposure to environmental elements (heat, cold, precipitation).
    • Physical demands include lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally, frequent kneeling, crouching, reaching, and talking.
    • Requires good vision and hearing abilities.
