Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (Contract)
Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit and Work Environment
- Progressive Care Unit (15 beds total)
- 3 Step-down ICU beds
- 12 Telemetry beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio:
- 1:4 in Progressive Care
- 1:3 in Step-down ICU
- Scheduled 36 hours per week after first week of orientation
- No call required
- Floating required to other acute units including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and ER
Job Duties
- Primary nursing care
- Telemetry monitoring and strip reading
- Fingerstick blood sugar testing
- Use of equipment such as:
- Meditech electronic charting system
- Pyxis medication dispensing system
- BIPAP machines
- Continuous cardiac monitoring
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Hawaii
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) cardiac experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
- Acute Care experience
- BLS certification
Additional Information
- Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday
- Dress code: Scrubs
