- Associate of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Description
Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Location
- Yakima, Washington
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years in a large volume Emergency Department with high acuity patients
- Prior travel experience not required
Required Certifications
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
- PALS or ENPC
- TNCC
Required Skills
- Barcode scanning medication administration
- Managing medication drips
- Blood product administration
- Triage experience (must pass hospital’s Triage Test before allowed to triage)
- Ability to set up chest tubes and arterial lines
- Assist with trauma and code cases
- Splinting
- Bipap/ventilator management
- Good understanding of Emergency Severity Index (ESI)
- Pediatric emergency medicine experience highly preferred
- Experience with Point of Care Labs is a plus
Patient Population
- Neonate to geriatric patients
- Level III trauma center
- Pediatrics (medical and trauma)
- Stroke (administer TNK)
- Cardiac (cath lab)
- Behavioral health and substance use disorder
- High acuity pediatric patients
- Transfer out patients requiring stabilization (neurosurgery, multi-system trauma)
Patient Ratios
- 1:3-5 based on acuity
- Fast track area with 13 beds (“green zone”)
- Emergency Department organized in zones
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- Day shifts: 7a-7p, 9a-9p
- Mid shifts: 10a-10p, 11a-11p, 12p-12a, 1p-1a, 2p-2a
- Evening shifts: 3p-3a
- Night shifts: 7p-7a
- Weekend rotation every other weekend (may occasionally work back-to-back weekends)
- Flexibility desired
