Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift (MS Nights)
- Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours
- Start Date: ASAP
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
- Float Requirement: Yes, within scope
- On Call: None
- Block Scheduling: Case by case
- Unit Size: 32 beds
- Documentation System: EPIC
- Scrub Color: Any (no hospital logos)
- First Time Travelers: Accepted
- Local Travelers: Not accepted
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Float experience within scope of practice
Required Documentation & Compliance
- I9 verification
- Driver’s License or State ID
- E-Verify compliance
- 7-year background check (updated annually) including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification
- Fingerprinting onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only)
- Education verification (highest level)
- Photo for badge
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (must be renewed annually)
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire (if applicable)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Completion of unit-specific skills checklist annually
- 7-year work history verification
- Completion of employment application/resume
Additional Information
- Case by case block scheduling
- Float within scope of practice
- No on-call requirement
- Scrubs must not display any hospital logos
- Behavioral health nurses require specific competency-based training prior to start
This position offers an opportunity for Medical Surgical RNs with at least 1 year of experience to work nights on a travel contract in Albuquerque, NM. First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
