Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- First-time Travelers: Not accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Expected to float within ICU community (CVICU, Med/Surg ICU, Neuro ICU)
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (must be outside 100-mile radius)
- Pending License: Accepted
- Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Specialty Requirements & Skills
- PA catheter interpretation and analysis required
- Open heart recovery experience strongly preferred
- Experience with LVAD, RVAD, Impella, IABP required
- CRRT with Prismaflex and ECMO preferred
- Competency with ventilators and hemodynamic monitoring including PA catheters
- Targeted Temperature Management
- Bedside tracheostomies and PEG tubes
- Endotool for glucose monitoring
- Temporary pacemakers
- Experience with Heart Mate 2 & 3, Centra Mag, Impella, Balloon Pump
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Other certifications as applicable per unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) may be required based on assignment specifics
Licensure
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Minnesota
- Primary source verification of license required
- Pending licenses accepted
Background & Compliance
- Criminal background check required within one year of start date
- MN DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required prior to start (no fingerprints pending allowed)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year of start
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start required
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray as per guidelines
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
- Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
- Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
- Drug testing within 1 year of start (9 panel acceptable)
Additional Requirements
- Must complete assigned online pre-orientation modules within 72 hours of assignment start
- Passport-style photo required within 48 hours of contract signing for badge issuance
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required
- Skills checklist required annually
- Must be able to work in a latex-free environment (latex allergy accommodations available)

Notes
- Candidates must be able to meet all licensure, certification, and background requirements prior to start
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
- Candidates must be willing to float within ICU units as needed
- Weekend work every other weekend is mandatory
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Minnesota
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
