Description
Registered Nurse (Critical Care)
Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel
Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Work Schedule: Full Time, every other weekend required, no on-call, no floating
Unit Description
- Mixed cardiac and medical ICU
- Patient types include: DKA, Acute Respiratory Failure, MIs, CABGs, Ventilators, etc.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 2:1 for ICU patients, 4:1 for IMCU patients
Job Summary
Provides independent nursing care in a critical care setting, managing routine and complex patient needs. Demonstrates clinical judgment, delegation, and long-range planning. Supports patients and families emotionally, culturally, and socially. Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitors effectiveness and side effects, and documents care thoroughly. Provides patient and family education as needed.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- Experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP)
- Experience with Impellas
- Experience caring for post-op cardiovascular surgery patients
- Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
