Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Outpatient Clinic (GI Oncology)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for an outpatient clinic specializing in GI Oncology. This position is suitable for first-time travel nurses.
- Shift: 8 AM - 5 PM
- Patient Demographics: Adults and Geriatrics
- Patient Volume: Approximately 125 visits per day
- Documentation System: EPIC
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinic setting, including experience within the last year
- Experience in an outpatient setting
- Experience with GI Oncology patients
- Oncology experience
- Skills required:
- Cardiac Arrest/CPR (BLS issued by American Heart Association)
Certifications & Licenses
- Required:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Ohio
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable)
- Preferred:
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check (including FBI and BCI fingerprinting) required within 90 days of start
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Ohio BCI & FBI fingerprinting with specific code requirements
- Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap (adult dose)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exams
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
References & Documentation
- Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership
- Employment application and skills checklist required
Additional Information
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome
- Float is not required for this position
