Registered Nurse - CVICU

Location: Nashville, Tennessee

Unit Overview

• 16-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Patient ratios typically 1:2, 1:1 for certain device patients
• Equipment includes Phillips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, Alaris IV pumps
• Documentation system: Meditech
• Floating policy: Travel nurses float as needed, typically to other ICUs or floors
• Scheduling: 2 weekends per month, plus coverage for 1 summer holiday and 2 winter holidays
• Unit has a free-floating charge nurse, unit secretary, and administrative care tech support during weekdays
• Student Nurse Externs assist with tech duties on variable shifts

Job Description

• Provide care to immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients
• Manage advanced cardiac devices including ECMO, Centrimags, and HM3 LVADs
• Perform procedures such as central line insertion, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, and intubations on unit
• Work closely with a team of 5 full-time surgeons performing high volume, advanced cardiac surgeries
• Intensivist coverage available 24/7
• Strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
