Registered Nurse - CVICU

Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• 16-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Patient ratios typically 1:2, 1:1 for certain device patients
• Unit staffing includes free-floating charge nurse support, unit secretary, and administrative care tech (M-F 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM)
• Student Nurse Externs assist with tech duties on variable shifts
• Equipment includes Phillips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, and Alaris IV pumps
• Documentation system: Meditech
• Scheduling requires 2 weekends per month and coverage of specific holidays (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day)
• Floating policy: Travel nurses float as needed, typically to other ICUs or floors
• No specific patient experience requirements

Job Responsibilities

• Provide care to immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including those on ECMO, Centrimags, and HM3 LVADs
• Perform procedures such as central line insertion, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, and intubations on unit
• Manage advanced hemodynamic monitoring including PA catheter use
• Care for patients with intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), Impella devices, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Advanced skills with PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring
