Job Opportunity: RN - Cath Lab

Location: Kankakee, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cath Lab department. The role involves circulating, sedating, and monitoring during procedures. Scrubbing is not required. The nurse must be able to float to at least two of the three lab areas (Cath, IR, EP), with a strong preference for TAVR experience.

Department Details

• Number of suites/labs: 5 total (3 Cath, 1 IR, 1 EP)
• Average cases per day: 10-12
• Common procedures/diagnoses include:

  • TAVR, Watchman, Diagnostic caths
  • IABP, Left heart cath, PFO closures
  • Arthrectomy, Lead extractions
  • Peripheral interventions, Ablations (pacemaker/ICDs)
  • AAA repairs, Cardioversions, Pericardial centesis
  • IFR, FFR, SWAN catheter, Radiofrequency ablations
  • PVI, Impella, Rotablator, CSI-radio, Loop recorders
  • Valvuloplasty, Carotid procedures, Hybrid TAA
  • IR cases excluding heart cases

Schedule & Call

• Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (9-hour shifts)
• Call: Required 1-2 weeknights, every 4th Friday through Monday on weekends, and holiday call as needed
• Call response time: Must be within 30 minutes while on call
• Cardiologists are in-house during the day and on call at night

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• BLS and ACLS certifications

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab RN experience, with experience within the last year
• Ability to float to at least two of the three lab areas (Cath, IR, EP)
• Experience with Epic
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Orientation & Support

• One-week unit/department-specific orientation with attempts to orient to all areas
• Cath Lab Techs and Charge Nurse available for support

Additional Notes

• Local candidates living within 20 miles of the facility may be considered for local placement
• Floating to all three labs is required, but not mandatory to cover all three every shift
