Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER Float Pool

Location: Garden City, Kansas (Zone 4)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Position in the Emergency Room (ER) Float Pool covering a 60-mile radius around Garden City, KS.
• No home base facility; nurses will float between multiple ER locations within the zone.
• Float assignments include several hospitals within approximately 2 to 54 miles from Garden City.
• Floating is mandatory throughout the entire zone regardless of housing location.
• Orientation lasts 2-3 days; clinicians must be in-state for the week of orientation.

• Unit: ER/ED Float
• Trauma Level: Non-trauma designated
• STEMI Receiving: Yes
• Stroke Center: Yes (stroke send outs)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5 depending on acuity
• Average patients treated per day: 6-49 (varies by location)
• ER holds are intermixed within the ER (no separate holding area)
• No separate psych/seclusion rooms
• Security presence details not specified
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Tech support available for unit secretary work, nurse assistance, and triage support
• Respiratory Therapist (RT) available 24/7 in ER
• RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips (no monitor techs)

• 12-hour shifts
