Job Description

The Surgical Technician assists in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients by performing routine and delegated duties according to hospital standards and policies. Responsibilities include:

• Scrubbing for surgical procedures involving geriatric, adult, adolescent, and pediatric patients.
• Cleaning instruments and operating rooms.
• Picking cases and monitoring inventory.
• Stocking OR rooms.
• Providing age-appropriate care considering developmental, psychosocial needs, environmental safety, educational needs, communication style, and level of understanding.

Additional Requirements:

• Call is required.
• Weekend coverage every other weekend is required.
• Scrubs are provided.

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist, including experience within the last year.

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, and education verification.
• Annual updates for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
• Drug screening (9-panel, excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually.
• Immunizations including Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine (seasonal), TB screening, and others as required.
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
• Completion of facility-specific regulatory and compliance documents prior to start.
