Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel Position

Location: Reno, Nevada
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

This role involves performing respiratory therapy procedures per protocol and physician orders to improve cardiopulmonary conditions in patients ranging from newborn to geriatric. The therapist will primarily work with patients in critical care units, adult and pediatric general care, and may provide care at secondary sites as needed.


Work Schedule

  • 3 shifts of 12 hours each per week (rotating days)
  • 36 guaranteed hours weekly
  • Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
  • May be required to float within competency areas
  • May be required to work major holidays and pick up an additional shift during the schedule period

Facility Environment

  • Extremely busy, fast-paced environment serving a large regional area
  • Level 2 trauma center with stroke accreditation
  • Approximately 800 inpatient beds and 80 ER beds
  • Patient volume and pace comparable to a Level 1 trauma center

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Nevada
  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Initiate or modify patient care plans under established protocols
  • Properly document all patient records and department logs
  • Maintain knowledge of technological advances and clinical applications
  • Provide a positive patient experience through clear communication and service recovery when needed
  • Exercise continuous mental effort to ensure safe and effective patient care

Additional Notes

  • Travelers may be called off with 48 hours’ notice for low census during the contract period
  • The position provides direct patient care in a high-acuity setting
