Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Contract

Job Description

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist assists in delivering patient care as a member of the surgical team. Responsibilities include care before, during, and after surgery with a focus on patient safety and maintaining a sterile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in and implement age-specific care and interaction, maintaining competencies and certifications.
• Ensure patient safety by performing all aspects of care to reduce medical errors.
• Verify correct site procedure, correct counts, fire safety checks, and readiness of equipment and supplies.
• Provide and maintain a sterile atmosphere before and during surgical procedures.
• Open instruments and supplies following sterile procedures and maintain the sterile field throughout the procedure.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment before, during, and after procedures.
• Perform accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Clean operating rooms according to established procedures.
• Safely pass instruments and sharps to minimize injury or exposure risk.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, including experience within the last year.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
