Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 8 weeks (approximately 2 months)
Shift: Days, 9:00 AM – 9:30 PM
Start Date: May 18, 2026
End Date: July 12, 2026 (extension possible based on unit needs)


Job Summary

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department.
  • Responsible for rapid, safe, and accurate triage of every patient entering the emergency care system.
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Support unit preparation for Epic EMR go-live; Cerner and Epic EMR experience required.
  • Must self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; a basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to continue working in the ED.
  • May be placed on call occasionally during low census periods; if called in, must respond and arrive onsite within one hour.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Iowa
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification
  • PALS certification
  • TNCC certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • CPI/MOAB certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Cerner EMR system
  • Experience with Epic EMR system

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • COVID-19 vaccine (declination accepted)
  • Influenza vaccine (optional, but recommended during flu season)
  • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted)
  • Hepatitis B (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted)
  • Tdap (valid for 10 years; declination accepted)
  • Negative TB test within the past year or appropriate documentation if history of positive test
  • Fit test for approved respirators completed prior to start
  • Health statement/physician statement within the last 12 months

Background and Documentation

  • Professional license verification and primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • Background check including SS trace and county search for last 7 years within 30 days of start
  • Adult and Child Abuse clearance as required by state
  • Education verification through third party or combined with diploma/transcripts
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start (9-panel, excluding THC)
  • Driver’s license or state ID current and valid throughout assignment
  • Professional references: 2 required, including 1 supervisor reference
  • Resume or professional profile required
  • Various compliance attestations and checklists to be completed prior to or at onboarding
