Description

Registered Nurse - Med-Surg Telemetry Unit

Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Shift Details

  • 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Night shift
  • Includes weekends and holidays
  • No on-call required
  • May float to similar or lower acuity units as needed
  • Patient ratio approximately 1:6

Unit & Patient Population

  • 42-bed Med-Surg Telemetry unit
  • Patient types include Cardiac, Diabetes, CHF, COPD, Renal, General Surgery, Orthopedics
  • Team includes RNs, LPNs, PCTs, CNAs, and unit secretaries

Required Skills & Experience

  • Must be proficient with Insulin, Heparin, and Lasik drips
  • Experience with Med-Surg Telemetry patients preferred

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - can be completed prior to start

Required Licenses

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated every 30 days while on assignment
  • Education verification within 90 days of start (diploma or transcript required)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted unless used as placeholder)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (titer not accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer (vaccine series not accepted in lieu of titer)
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved declination during flu season
    • COVID vaccination proof if vaccinated; unvaccinated must complete declination form

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Must complete facility-specific orientation and LMS modules
  • Must sign facility-specific Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Statement, Certification Acknowledgement, TB Questionnaire, Vehicle Registration Form, and Standards of Communication
  • NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) training required for ER RNs; ICU/IMCU/MS/Tele RNs require online CPI certification
  • Flu vaccination documentation required during flu season (Sept-April) with specific deadlines based on contract dates
  • COVID-19 screening questionnaire required within 15 days of start

  • No local candidates within 50-mile radius accepted
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
  • Candidates will be reviewed/interviewed by management
  • Must include Return to Office (RTO) documentation in submission to be honored at time of offer

This position offers experience caring for a diverse patient population on a Med-Surg Telemetry unit with a supportive multidisciplinary team. Night shift and weekend availability are required.


Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum of 1 year of Med-Surg/Telemetry nursing experience, with recent experience within the last year
  • Proficient with Lasix drips
