Registered Nurse - Primary Care
Location: Juneau, Alaska
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
This position is within a primary care program focused on healthcare for the homeless. The role supports patients and medical staff in an ambulatory care clinic setting, ensuring smooth clinic operations and quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical services in collaboration with providers, clinic staff, and management to ensure high-quality care and efficient resource use.
- Maintain medication inventory and supplies not managed by the warehouse system.
- Perform quality control checks on Point of Care tests.
- Accurately document all care and services provided in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist providers and staff by anticipating their needs to support efficient patient care.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to serve patients and clinic staff.
Required Qualifications
- Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska at time of application.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of primary care nursing experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding and application of the nursing process.
- Customer service principles.
- Safety and infection control practices.
- Skills in patient assessments, specimen collection, and use of medical and computer equipment.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with willingness to teach and ask for help when needed.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with staff and other departments.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk and hear.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Additional Information
- Proof of flu vaccine is required.
- Start date depends on completion and processing of fingerprinting.
- Applicants must live at least 50 miles away from the work location.
- Housing and travel expenses are not provided.
