Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) specializing in adult to geriatric patients. The unit cares for patients with advanced cardiovascular support devices and post-operative care needs.
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
- Patients with LVADs, balloon pumps, Swan catheters, temporary pacemakers, femoral and venous sheaths, arterial lines, TR bands, and patients on CRRT
- Post-operative care for AAA repairs requiring specific positioning and close monitoring
Unit Details
- 10-bed CVICU with an average daily census of 7 patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1 to 1:2
- Intensivist present Monday-Friday with daily multidisciplinary rounds
- Nurses typically carry 2 patients
- Cardiac medication titration and sedation management for intubated patients
- Use of Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication tools
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
- Every other weekend work schedule
- Call: None
- Holiday work expectations based on number of holidays during assignment
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Orientation & Compliance
- Maximum Return to Orientation (RTO) time: 7 days
- Full compliance with orientation and credentialing required to start on time
- Orientation hours vary based on contract length
Work Requirements
- Floating within the facility as needed
- Work every other weekend unless otherwise specified
- Holiday work required if assignment includes major holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
Health & Background Requirements
- Background check required within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification required (degree related to nursing)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap (highly recommended)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
- Annual flu vaccination or documented declination required
Competency Exams & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (3 attempts allowed)
- Color blindness test required
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required; 1st time travelers are accepted
- Floating within the facility may be required within scope of practice
- No call responsibilities
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
