Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Decatur, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: ICU Registered Nurse with Cardiac or CVICU experience
• Shift: Nights (6:00 PM - 6:30 AM)
• Patient Ratio: 1:2 for 20 beds/rooms
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years ICU nursing experience
• First-time travelers: Accepted
• Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: May float within scope as needed
• Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
• Local Candidates: Accepted without radius restrictions
• Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIH certification

Required Skills and Experience

Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Response

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKGs
• Pre/Post cardiac catheterization/intervention care
• Chronic and acute renal failure management

IV Therapy

• Accessing ports
• Arterial line management
• Blood product administration
• Central line and PICC line care/management
• Starting IVs

Medication Management

• Continuous IV sedation
• Emergency medications
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips

Neurological Care

• CVA (stroke) and acute stroke management

Respiratory/Thoracic Care

• Assist with BiPAP and CPAP management
• Care of ventilated patients
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Suctioning (endotracheal tube and nasotracheal)
• Ventilator management

Professional Topics and Skills

• Infection prevention
• Isolation precautions and use of PPE
• Code blue and rapid response protocols

Licensing and Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Stroke management experience

Facility and Work Environment

• Acute care hospital with Level II Trauma designation
• 372 staffed beds
• Charting system: Cerner
• Parking permit required (no cost)

Additional Requirements

• Background checks and verifications as per state and facility policies
• Physical exam within one year of start date
• Fit mask testing required prior to start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Required immunizations or documented exemptions (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu)
• Professional references and skills checklist required

Notes

• Candidates may be called off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay for those hours
• Candidates may be required to provide a badge photo prior to start
• Flu vaccine or approved exemption required by November 30th annually
