Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Operating Room Pediatrics

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process, reporting to nursing leadership.


Essential Duties

  • Participate in ongoing education to meet learning needs.
  • Use patient education materials appropriate to pediatric patients and assess readiness and developmental level for learning.
  • Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in interdisciplinary team discussions to evaluate patient care.
  • Communicate relevant information to ensure continuity of care.
  • Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
  • Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
  • Follow healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Organize and prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
  • Consult resources timely for patients with complex care issues or high discharge risk.
  • Develop professional growth goals and participate in unit goals and performance improvement activities.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
  • Assess and synthesize complex patient data to determine care priorities.
  • Collaborate with patients and families in care planning, addressing cultural and ethnic considerations.
  • Stay informed on relevant research and contribute ideas for practice improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Pediatrics Operating Room (OR) experience
  • Experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center with Level 1 Trauma patients (at least 1 year)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
