Description

Respiratory Care Practitioner

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Perform routine and critical respiratory care procedures under supervision.
Provide care for Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric populations.
Disassemble, clean, dry, and package respiratory equipment.
Evaluate patient respiratory care outcomes according to care plans.
Serve as a role model demonstrating clinical judgment, technical skills, and knowledge.
Prepare, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment; report malfunctions.
Accurately document respiratory care procedures and patient responses in the EMR.
Complete assessments on ventilator and other respiratory care patients.
Recommend timely interventions or referrals as needed.
Record compliance with sleep therapy documentation and consult on adverse effects.
Evaluate patients for respiratory therapy in inpatient units and Emergency Room.
Obtain and analyze arterial, venous, and capillary blood gases.
Assist with cleaning and stocking respiratory care equipment and supplies.

Required Qualifications

Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Illinois
Respiratory Care Practitioner with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist
Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association
