Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Position floats between units as needed.
- Weekend shifts required at least every other weekend.
- No on-call required.
- Patient ratio expected: 1:4.
- Must have a personal vehicle for assignment.
- Floating to other units and facilities within reasonable distance may be required.
- Facilities covered include multiple locations in Oregon (specific facility names omitted).
- Floating to certain locations may include additional incentives and accommodations.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Required Licensure and Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Oregon.
- Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Floating between units based on skill set and unit needs.
- Weekend shifts required at least every other weekend.
- No block schedules required.
- No 48-hour shifts approved.
Technology & Systems
- Charting system: Epic.
Staffing & Facility Type
- Facility type: Short Term Acute Care.
- Total staffed beds: 418.
Required Documents & Compliance
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health requirements including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use.
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete required competency exams and skills checklists as applicable.
- Must complete required WorkRamp training modules prior to start and annually thereafter, including:
- Regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for ER nursing
- Facility-specific orientation and compliance modules
- Photo for badge required (passport style, neutral background).
- Float policy acknowledgement required.

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
