Occupational Therapist (OT) - Temp Position

Location: Mound City, Missouri
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Screen and evaluate patients with cognitive and/or ADL (Activities of Daily Living) physical functioning disorders.
• Develop and implement appropriate plans of care following regulatory and clinical practice standards.
• Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
• Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions including ADL retraining, therapeutic activities and exercises, modalities, and use of supportive/assistive devices.
• Assess patient progress and adjust treatments accordingly; evaluate treatment outcomes and modify services as needed.
• Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
• Document all required information accurately in electronic records and maintain patient records per policy.
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings/in-services.
• Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as needed.
• Supervise and support occupational therapist assistants, rehabilitation aides, and/or students.
• Adhere to NBCOT, AOTA, and state-required practice acts, codes of conduct, and ethics.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Occupational Therapy experience.
• Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings is required.
• Valid Occupational Therapist (OT) license for Missouri.

Additional Information

• Typical treatment times: ~1 hour for Medicare B patients; 30-35 minutes for Medicare A and managed care patients.
• Caseload may range from 7-12 patients per day, fewer for evaluating therapists with evaluations scheduled.
• Group therapy is allowed and may help with productivity.
• Therapists typically have a dedicated device for documentation.
• Productivity expectations: 88-90% for evaluating therapists, 90-93% for assistants.
