Respiratory Therapist (Contract)
Location
- Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide respiratory therapy across various units including Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Adult Intensive Care Unit (AICU), and general floor care.
- Patient age range: infant to geriatric.
- Procedures include nebulizers, MDI’s, bronchial hygiene (CPT), volume expansion (PEP), CPAP & BiPAP.
- NICU/PICU experience preferred with familiarity in Servoi, SiPAP, Sensormedics 3100A (HFOV) ventilators, and blood gas analysis.
- AICU experience includes ventilator extubation protocols and arterial blood gases (ABGs).
- Electronic charting using EPIC system.
- Medication and supply management via Pyxis machines.
- Orientation: 5-6 shifts of 8-12 hours with additional training as needed.
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- 36 hours per week (typically 3 shifts)
- Includes weekends
- No required call, but may be on call list for extra shifts
Required Qualifications
- Active Nebraska Respiratory Therapist license
- Minimum 2 years of experience in floor care respiratory therapy
- Minimum 2 years of experience in intensive care respiratory therapy
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required if working in NICU
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required if working in Adult ICU
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred, especially for NICU and adult care
- Experience with tracheostomy care required
- Experience with nebulizers, MDI’s, bronchial hygiene (CPT), volume expansion (PEP), CPAP & BiPAP for infants
- Willingness to work both NICU and adult patients as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent required

- Orientation and ongoing support provided by Lead Therapist available 24/7
- Dress code: scrubs (any color) or business casual
- Patient load varies based on workload
- No explicit prior travel experience required for this role
