Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU Travel Position
Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 - 07:00)
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
- Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
- Call Requirements: None
- Float Requirements: Float as needed within scope, including to facilities within a 25-mile radius
Unit Information
- Unit: Medical ICU (MICU)
- Number of Beds: 8
- Patient Ratios: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3
- Equipment Used: Ventilators, vasopressors, arterial lines, central venous lines (CVLs), and other ICU management equipment
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner
- Patient Population: General/Medical ICU patients
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama
- Minimum 2 years of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Summary
This travel RN position in the ICU requires a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and current RN licensure with ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications. The role involves night shifts with every other weekend coverage and no call requirements. Nurses must be able to float within a 25-mile radius as needed. The unit is an 8-bed Medical ICU with patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:3, utilizing advanced ICU equipment and Cerner EMR. Navy scrubs are required attire.
