Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Farmington, New Mexico

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide nursing care in a Level III Trauma Center Emergency Department with 48 beds (including flex space). The unit uses a team nursing and pod system, supported by a social worker and unit educator. Patient population includes ESRD, cirrhosis, COPD, psychiatric, and other acute conditions.

Work Schedule

• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum of two weekends per schedule
• Call: None

Patient Care & Environment

• Patient Ratios: 4:1 in Main ED, 6:1 in Fast Track
• Common Diagnoses/Treatments: ESRD, substance abuse disorders, psychological disorders, COPD, CHF, abdominal pain, chest pain
• Must have skills/experience in trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and moderate sedation
• Equipment used includes Zoll defibrillator, Level One blood transfuser, QinFlow blood warmer, Hospira Plum360 infusion pump, Freestyle and iSTAT point-of-care testing devices, and ultrasound-guided IV placement
• Electronic Health Record system: Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Mexico
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications (must be from American Heart Association):

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• Experience and skills in trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and moderate sedation
