Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide nursing care in a Level III Trauma Center Emergency Department with 48 beds (including flex space). The unit uses a team nursing and pod system, supported by a social worker and unit educator. Patient population includes ESRD, cirrhosis, COPD, psychiatric, and other acute conditions.
Work Schedule
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum of two weekends per schedule
- Call: None
Patient Care & Environment
- Patient Ratios: 4:1 in Main ED, 6:1 in Fast Track
- Common Diagnoses/Treatments: ESRD, substance abuse disorders, psychological disorders, COPD, CHF, abdominal pain, chest pain
- Must have skills/experience in trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and moderate sedation
- Equipment used includes Zoll defibrillator, Level One blood transfuser, QinFlow blood warmer, Hospira Plum360 infusion pump, Freestyle and iSTAT point-of-care testing devices, and ultrasound-guided IV placement
- Electronic Health Record system: Cerner
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications (must be from American Heart Association):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Experience and skills in trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and moderate sedation
