Registered Nurse - Greensboro, North Carolina (Travel/Contract)

Job Details

  • Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3x12 hour shifts)
  • Schedule: Every 3rd weekend and holidays as needed
  • Float: Required; travelers may float between multiple campuses as needed
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6

Specialty & Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Acute Care Rehab preferred)
  • Required Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
  • Travel Experience: No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)

Job Description

  • Care for patients with neurological diagnoses such as CVA (stroke), TBI, ABI, spinal cord injury, aneurysm, post-op surgical patients, and generalized debility in an inpatient rehabilitation setting.
  • Responsibilities include interpretation of lab results, medication reconciliation, patient health history, allergy documentation, vital signs monitoring, dressing changes, aseptic/sterile procedures, specimen labeling and collection (capillary, throat, urine, phlebotomy), telephone triage, and pharmacy refill calls.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia Competency Exam (required for all RNs)
    • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification for MS/Tele units)
  • EPIC: Must pass EPIC electronic health record test (2 attempts allowed, additional attempts may be granted on site)

Compliance & Screening Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID and Social Security card required for badge issuance
  • Background check covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years (no open hits accepted)
  • Education verification (Associate's degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Drug screening (10-panel, negative result required within 40 days of start)
  • Immunizations and health documents required, including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • TB test or chest X-ray and questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • Fit mask test (annual, specific approved N95 respirators required)
  • Fingerprinting required in North Carolina prior to start

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • EKG competency
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Rehabilitation nursing experience
