Respiratory Therapist - Critical Care

Location: Marshfield, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Provide respiratory therapy in inpatient units and Emergency Department (ED).
• Care for all adult patients and pediatric patients in the ED.
• Perform arterial blood gases (ABGs) and capillary blood gases (CBGs) in intensive care units.
• Assist with intubation; may place laryngeal airway (King airway) during code blue situations.
• Cover EKG department overnight and as needed.

Work Schedule

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Day: 06:30–19:00; Night: 18:30–07:00).
• Every third weekend required.
• Every other holiday required.
• Occasional volunteer off-shift call from 19:00–04:00 with 1-hour response time.
• Scheduling done on a 6-week block basis when possible.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience.
• Critical care experience required.
• Experience in trauma level 2 or 3 settings required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential via NBRC.
• Current Wisconsin Respiratory Therapist license (may take 6–8 weeks to obtain).
• Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), PALS.
• First-time travel therapists accepted; travel duos accepted.

Clinical Environment & Support

• Neonatologists and hospitalists available in-house 24/7.
• Intensivists present in ICUs 24/7.
• Respiratory leadership includes system director, on-site manager, supervisor, and lead RT per shift.
• Department-specific orientation includes leadership introduction and 3–4 days floor orientation.

Equipment Used

• Ventilators: Servo U, Servo I, PB840 (being replaced with Servo U), Hamilton T1.
• Non-invasive ventilation: Bipap/CPAP (V-60, V-30, Resmeds).
• High flow oxygen: Vapotherm.
• Additional devices: INOmax Plus, Oscillators, Cough assist, Volara.

Additional Information

• Scrub color is flexible; good supportive footwear encouraged.
• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility.
• Prior employment with this facility requires a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying.
• No floating requirements.
