Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location
- Oregon City, Oregon
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (3 shifts per week)
- 12 hours per shift, 36 hours per week
- Weekends required every other weekend
- No on-call required
- No block schedules required
Unit and Floating
- Position may float between units based on needs
- Expected patient ratios: 1:1 for labor, 1:3 for postpartum
- Must have experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP)
- At least 1 year of labor training required
- Candidate should be independent on night shift
- Floating may include multiple nearby facilities; vehicle required for assignment
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience preferred
- Candidates with 1 to 1.5 years experience considered if from a high risk/high census L&D unit
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- BLS (American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- PALS (American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification (AWHONN or NCC-EFM)
- Chemotherapy certification if applicable
- IV Certification (verify if required)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) if required
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) if required
- NIH Stroke Certification if required (renew every 2 years)
Required Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Oregon
- NURSYS verification required
Required Documents & Background Checks
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Social Security Card
- I9 Employment Eligibility Verification
- E-Verify Attestation
- Background Check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start; updated monthly
- Education Verification (nursing degree verification)
- State-specific searches as applicable (Oregon Abuse/Neglect, Washington WSP/WATCH, OBRA Registry for CNAs if applicable)
- Employment Application covering last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
- Minimum 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; annual updates required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with acceptable documentation
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with acceptable documentation
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
- Drug screening (9 panel) within 12 months; instant tests acceptable with attestation
- Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Unit-specific competency exams including EFM training or fetal heart rate monitoring assessment
- Color Blind Testing if required by unit
- Skills Checklist updated annually for applicable units
Additional Requirements
- Must have a vehicle for assignment and floating between facilities
- Badge photo required (passport style with neutral background)
- Completion of required WorkRamp modules (regulatory, specialty-specific, and regional core) prior to start and annually thereafter
- Epic electronic health record training modules required for orientation and ongoing competency

- Short Term Acute Care facility with 109 staffed beds
- Charting system: Epic
- No parking fees
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who are comfortable working independently on night shifts in a high-acuity environment and are flexible to float between units and nearby facilities.
