Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- No Return to Office (RTO) after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation.
- Floating to similar units is required as needed.
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours offered.
- Required weekends: 4 weekend shifts per each 6-week schedule.
- Patient ratio: 1:5-6.
- Unit accepts first-time travelers.
- Unit is a 24-bed inpatient cardiac procedural telemetry unit with rapid patient turnover.
- Patient diagnoses include pre/post cardiac catheterization, pacemaker/ICD procedures, stress tests, arterial/venous sheath management, TIA, carotid stent management, arrhythmias, and cardiac drip management (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Lasix, Nitro).
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Patient Care & Unit Details
- Cardiac procedural telemetry unit with average patient length of stay 1.8-2.4 days.
- Rapid patient turnover with an ADT nurse available Monday-Friday during peak times.
- Management of complex cardiac patients including those with arrhythmias and on cardiac drips.
Scheduling & Work Conditions
- Floating to similar units required.
- Absences must be made up at the end of the contract; no overtime days allowed for makeup.
- Weekend call-outs require making up weekend shifts.
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed but requests will be accommodated when possible.
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Background checks including local, federal, national criminal databases, sex offender search, and education verification.
- Drug screening within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (or 30 days if past positive TB).
- Fit testing for N95 mask or PAPR training required.
- Immunizations and titers required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or facility-specific declination), Flu vaccination or approved exemption.
- TB testing: Negative PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year; if positive, chest x-ray and physician-signed TB questionnaire required.
- Required competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (must pass with 82% or higher).
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and compliance training modules.
- Photo for badge required (passport style, white background, business attire).
- Must complete confidentiality agreement, hospital policies acknowledgment, and other facility-specific documents prior to start.

- Candidates must complete medication safety training and other required education modules.
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years required for travel and acute care positions.

- Radiation badge required if applicable (not typical for this role).
- Flu season vaccination or exemption required annually with deadlines.
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and training requirements.
