Description

Registered Nurse - Surgery (Travel Assignment)

Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM)
Work Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
Start Date: ASAP


Job Summary

  • Independently practices nursing in the same or similar clinical setting.
  • Provides routine and complex care with the ability to manage long-range goals and plans.
  • Develops skills to manage clinical contingencies effectively.
  • Makes appropriate assignments and delegates tasks to other care providers to manage clinical situations.

Responsibilities

  • Meet applicable nursing competencies including leadership of self and others.
  • Provide nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers; identify issues and resources.
  • Float between primary assignment location and main campus as staffing needs require.
  • No weekend requirement, but voluntary call coverage at main campus is possible.
  • No formal on-call requirement; however, staff may need to stay if cases run past scheduled block time.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Mexico
  • Minimum 1 year of Operating Room experience within the last year
  • BLS Certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS Certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
