Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Location: Coon Rapids, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in Mother Baby Center covering both labor and post-partum care.
- Shifts: 3x12 hour shifts, days or nights (0700-1930 and 1900-0730).
- Average daily census: approximately 8 deliveries/day and 15 post-partum patients/day.
- Weekend requirement: work every other weekend.
- Floating: may be required to float within scope to meet unit needs.
- Block scheduling: not accommodated.
- Local candidates within 100-mile radius not accepted.
- Pending license accepted.
- On-call: not required.
- Sterile vaginal exam experience required.
- Fetal monitoring skills required including:
- External and internal fetal monitoring
- Intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC) placement and calibration
- Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experience administering Pitocin (oxytocin) required.
- Experience managing/administering epidural anesthesia required.
- Return to office restrictions: ideally no more than 5 days.

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Minnesota
- Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Sterile vaginal exam experience
- Internal fetal monitoring experience
- IUPC (intrauterine pressure catheter) placement and calibration experience
- Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns experience
- Experience managing/administering epidural anesthesia
- Post Partum experience
Additional Requirements
- Criminal background check within one year of start date.
- MN DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required prior to start.
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Adult Tdap vaccine (or approved exemption)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation (for 2025-2026 season)
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start.
- Completion of assigned online pre-orientation modules within 72 hours of assignment start.
- Medication and competency exams required annually.
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Guaranteed hours subject to cancellation policy (client may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty).
- Photo for badge must be passport style, submitted within 48 hours of contract signing.
- Must be able to complete all required background checks, immunizations, and training prior to start.
- No on-call required.
- Floating within scope may be required.
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with strong fetal monitoring skills and post-partum care experience seeking a travel contract in Minnesota.
