Registered Nurse (OR RN) - North Carolina
Location
- Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Unit Details
- Operating Room (OR) Unit with 4 OR suites and 6 procedure rooms
- Average of 46 cases per day
- Fast-paced environment with quick case turnover
- Physician-friendly culture emphasizing teamwork, attendance, and punctuality
Common Cases
- Orthopedic: total joints, spine
- General/laparoscopic: hernia, thyroidectomy, resections, laparoscopic cholecystectomy
- Eye surgeries (helpful but not required)
- Gender reassignment surgeries (top surgery)
- ENT: tonsils, septoplasty, sinus procedures
- Excisions of masses, port placement
Schedule & Shifts
- Preferred shifts: 12-hour shifts; 10-hour shifts can be accommodated
- Typical start time: 7:00 AM
- Hours per week: approximately 36
- Night call: 1 night per week (5 PM – 7 AM)
- Weekend call: 1 weekend every 4-6 weeks (Saturday 7 AM – Monday 7 AM)
- Holiday call: may be required
- Call response time: 1 hour
Orientation & Training
- Unit-specific orientation: 5-7 days
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
- Experience with orthopedic cases including total joints and spine
- Experience with general and laparoscopic cases
- Experience in charge nurse roles
