Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Adults

Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care experience to work in a high-volume Emergency Room at a Level 1 Trauma Center. The role involves caring for adult patients including neurotrauma, cardiovascular, and medical/surgical ICU cases.


Schedule

  • Shifts: 3x12 hour shifts, 7 PM to 7 AM
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
  • Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
  • Call-off Policy: Allowed 1 call-off shift per 2 weeks
  • Floating: Required to float within skillset

Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • Critical care experience in a high-volume Emergency Room setting
  • Level 1 Trauma Center critical care experience
  • Airway management skills
  • Experience with Epic charting system

Unit Details

  • Patient Ratio: 1:25
  • Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, geriatrics
  • Equipment: Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNO with the iNOvent, LTV1200
  • Protocols: Robust Assess and Treat protocol with ventilator management and liberation policy

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

  • I-9 or attestation
  • Valid Driver’s License/State ID with address verification (must meet radius criteria)
  • Background check covering 7 years of history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming freedom from communicable diseases
  • Fit test within 1 year, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Drug screening (10 panel) within 30 days of start
  • Immunizations or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Required clinical references (2)
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Completion of orientation and compliance documents prior to start

Additional Notes

  • EPIC charting experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Locals not accepted due to radius restrictions
