Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Operating Room
Location
- Cortez, Colorado
Employment Type
- Travel contract
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Shift: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Hours per week: 36
Job Summary
- Assist the surgical team before, during, and after surgery under direct supervision.
- Provide expert support, assistance, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Coordinate equipment setup and ensure sterility, cleanliness, and functionality.
- Assist with patient positioning and preparation.
- Scrub in as primary or secondary staff during procedures.
- Hand instruments and supplies to the surgeon and assist as directed.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery.
- Apply dressings post-surgery.
- Participate in patient safety and quality care initiatives.
- Clean and sterilize operating room and equipment; assist with room turnover.
- Assemble case carts with necessary supplies and instruments.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Surgical Technician license in Colorado
- Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technician experience, including experience within the last year
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Physical Demands
- Heavy physical strength required: occasionally exert up to 100 lbs, frequently up to 50 lbs, and constantly up to 20 lbs.
- Requires full range of motion including kneeling, crouching, reaching, and feeling.
- Must have good auditory and visual abilities, including color vision and near/far focus.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, infectious waste, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and potentially aggressive patients.
- Exposure to environmental factors such as heat, cold, precipitation, and wind.
- Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
Work Environment
- Moderate to occasionally loud noise levels.
- Interaction with patients experiencing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions and infectious diseases.
- Exposure to foul odors and infectious materials.
Additional Information

- Completion of annual educational, regulatory, and departmental training.
- Compliance with patient confidentiality, safety, infection control, and ethical business practices.
