Job Opportunity: CVICU RN
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift)
Job Description
- Work in a specialized Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) caring for cardiac patients pre- and post-operation.
- Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate surgical cases.
- Expected availability: 36 hours per week, every other weekend, holidays, and willingness to be on call.
- May be required to float to Pediatric ICU (PICU), Pediatrics, and Neonatal ICU (NICU).
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of recent Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP Advanced certification
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Completion of specialty and pharmacology exams with a minimum passing score of 80%, updated every 3 years.
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics.
- Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
- Annual NIH certification updates.
- Ascension-specific onboarding education attestation and contract worker onboarding completed onsite.
- Forward-facing badge photo with white or blue background (no alterations).
- Health requirements including:
- Proof of two MMR vaccines or positive titer (no declinations accepted).
- Fit test for respiratory protection, preferably before start.
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Varicella immunity documentation or vaccination (no declinations accepted).
- Valid Tdap within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- 2-step PPD or IGRA testing with annual TB questionnaire updates.
- Statement of good health or physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually.
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
- Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
- Background checks including criminal, employment, and EPLS verifications completed within required timeframes.
- Verification of education and employment history relevant to clinical work.
- Driver’s license or state ID must be current and match address requirements.
Additional Notes
- Must be willing to float between CVICU, PICU, Pediatrics, and NICU as needed.
- Flexibility and availability for on-call shifts and holiday coverage are required.
- Specialty exams and skills checklists must be maintained and updated regularly.
This position is ideal for an experienced CVICU RN seeking a night shift assignment with a focus on cardiac critical care and pediatric populations.
