Registered Nurse (ER/Medsurg Swing)

Location: Breckenridge, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day/Night Rotate (7a-7p, 7p-7a)
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Yes, if it falls within scheduled shifts
Scheduling: Will consider block scheduling
Floating: Required to float to Med/Surg and Swing bed units on the same floor

Department & Environment

• Department: Emergency Room (ER)
• Trauma Level IV, STEMI receiving, Stroke designated
• ER holds are intermixed within the ER
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms available
• No in-house 24/7 security in ER
• Average ER patient volume: ~10 patients per day
• ED physician coverage present
• Charge nurse on each shift who also takes patient assignments
• Nurse aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient sitters are on call
• No Respiratory Therapist (RT) coverage 24/7; RNs troubleshoot RT equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow)
• RNs required to read their own cardiac strips (Mindray monitors)
• Lab staff perform phlebotomy and lab draws
• No Tele/Monitor techs in ER

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred

Experience & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Minnesota
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Previous Med/Surg experience required
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required

Orientation & Dress Code

• Unit/department-specific orientation: 12 hours
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs

Additional Requirements

• Radius rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles
• Candidates may not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN with certain affiliated health systems within the past year
• Return to Office (RTO) required upfront; no additional RTO approvals after submission

This position does not require clinical involvement beyond nursing duties described. There is no call or standby requirement.
