    Description

    Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position

    Location: Cortez, Colorado
    Contract Length: 13 weeks
    Shift: Night Shift (6 PM - 6 AM)
    Hours per Week: 36


    Job Summary

    Provide nursing care to patients in Labor and Delivery with willingness to train in Nursery and Recovery areas. Administer safe, efficient, and courteous care using appropriate nursing procedures. Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles, assess patient status, and provide care according to unit policies. Utilize critical thinking and technology to improve patient outcomes.


    Unit/Area Responsibilities

    • Labor and Delivery: Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum care including complications
    • Nursery and Newborn Care (Delivery to Discharge)
    • Family Birthing and Fetal Monitoring (NST, basic fetal monitoring course required)
    • ICU skills preferred: Advanced cardiac monitoring, ventilator/BiPAP, critical drips, CVP and A-line monitoring
    • Procedural sedation, rapid sequence intubation, trauma alert response
    • Infant security, hearing screening, photo therapy, CCHD screening
    • Use of rapid infuser and epidural management

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
    • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
    • Minimum 1 year of postpartum nursing experience within the last year
    • Experience in Labor and Delivery
    • Clinic experience
    • Current BLS certification
    • Current ACLS certification

    Experience Requirements

    • Minimum 1 year of specialty nursing experience (ICU/inpatient experience preferred)
    • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    • Exposure to infectious waste, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and occasional foul odors
    • Moderate to loud noise levels; possible interactions with aggressive patients or visitors
    • Possible exposure to environmental elements (heat, cold, precipitation, wind)
    • Physical demands include lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally, frequent kneeling, crouching, reaching, and repetitive motion
    • Requires good vision (including color vision) and hearing abilities
    • Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities without compromising patient care

    • Participate in ongoing education, departmental meetings, and quality improvement initiatives

    • Ability to supervise non-professional staff and assist physicians with patient care and procedures

    This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic Labor and Delivery environment with additional training in Nursery and Recovery, supporting a broad range of maternal and newborn care needs.
