Respiratory Therapist
Location: Grand Junction, Colorado
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately)
Job Summary
The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides advanced-level respiratory care to diagnose, evaluate, treat, manage, and control cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities under physician orders. Acts as a resource to CRT staff and may lead special clinical projects or assignments as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic testing procedures, including obtaining arterial blood gases.
- Oversee and troubleshoot respiratory equipment for optimal patient care.
- Initiate respiratory protocols and interventions based on assessments.
- Administer medications safely and evaluate their effects according to protocol.
- Communicate patient progress to staff, physicians, and other departments.
- Monitor patients’ overall condition and make appropriate care recommendations.
- Educate patients and families on health promotion, wellness, and self-care techniques.
- Complete documentation accurately and maintain productivity standards.
- Monitor supplies and equipment, reporting issues as needed.
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and departmental meetings.
- Serve as a resource, consultant, and mentor within the respiratory care team.
- May float to other departments within competency and qualifications.
- May be required to be on-call during scheduled shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Colorado
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
