Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Colorado Springs, CO
Job Details
- Specialty: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
- Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Days
- Hours: 10 hours per day, approximately 30 hours per week
- Scheduling: Department-driven scheduling, typically four 10-hour shifts per week
- Call Requirements:
- Weeknights: 3-4 per month, from end of shift to 7:00 AM (if not working that day, call from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM)
- Weekends: 2-3 per month, 12-hour shifts (option to do a 24-hour shift counting as two calls)
- Call response time: 30 minutes
- Floating: May be required to float within a designated zone in case of extreme need
Unit and Work Environment
- Unit: Operating Room with 10 suites, typically using 3 to 7 rooms per day
- Case Volume: 2 to 24 cases per day; busiest days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
- Common Cases: Orthopedics and podiatry, including total shoulders, knees, hips, and hip scopes
- Role: Circulating nurse for orthopedic cases; scrubbing is not required but may be needed occasionally if a second scrub nurse is necessary
- EMR System: Epic
- Orientation:
- First day includes fire safety training
- Individualized orientation timeframe
- Clinicians must be in-state for the week of orientation, even if some modules are remote
- Dress Code: Scrubs and locker provided; bring your own lock
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Colorado
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Experience: Circulating experience in orthopedic surgery required
- Driver’s License: Must submit a valid driver’s license (radius requirement: within 60 miles)

- Hiring process includes profile review with clinical team and interview with unit manager
- No charge nurse or house supervisor responsibilities required
- OR techs are available, but RNs may occasionally need to scrub if a second scrub nurse is needed
