Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry Nights

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour nights (1845 to 0715), 3 days per week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday block scheduling)
• Unit: Medical/Surgical and Cardiac Telemetry
• Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Yes, this is a weekend position
• Floating: May be required to float between nearby locations and within the facility
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Manage cardiac and medical-surgical patients during night shifts
• Adhere to facility policies and patient care standards
• May be required to float within the facility or to nearby locations as needed

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued ID required
• Criminal background check within 6 months of start date
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, must remain valid throughout assignment
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap (or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be current
• Various facility-specific compliance documents including HIPAA, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code, and others must be reviewed and signed prior to start
• Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be current

Additional Notes

• Local radius rule: candidates must be outside a 75-mile radius to qualify as travelers
• No on-call requirement
• Block scheduling accommodation: not available
• References: Two professional references required, preferably supervisors within the last year
• Employment application and performance evaluations may be required for compliance
• Orientation modules must be completed prior to start (approximately 16 hours)

This position offers an opportunity to work in a well-recognized acute care hospital with a focus on Med/Surg and Cardiac Telemetry nursing during night shifts on a travel contract basis.
