OR Tech / Surgical Tech - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Glen Burnie, Maryland

Shift: Rotating 3 shifts of 12 hours (Day/Mid shifts)

• Day shift: 09:00 - 21:30
• Mid shift: 11:00 - 23:30
  Hours per Week: 36 hours

Job Description

• Ability to scrub in General, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Gynecology, Genitourinary, and Robotic surgeries is required.
• Endovascular experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics.
• Operating rooms: 11 rooms with a 1:1 tech-to-room ratio.
• Holidays, weekends (may be call or working shift), floating within specialty, and on-call duties (including weekends) are required.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, including experience within the last year.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• I9 or Attestation and Government Issued Photo ID required.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and various federal/state screenings must be completed within 30 days of start. Felonies within 5 years are disqualifying.
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen required within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted).
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start.
• Fit test for respirator mask required within 1 year of start and must be medically cleared to wear respirator.
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working with children)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or proof of vaccination/boosters
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination (series not accepted)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
• COVID vaccination not required for this location but documentation or declination must be collected for tracking.

Additional Requirements

• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start required.
• Employment application/resume must be completed within 30 days of start.
• Verification of previous 5 years of employment history required (attestation accepted if necessary).
• Facility-specific documents such as badge photo, confidentiality agreement, dress code review, and completion of required learning modules must be completed prior to start.
• Onboarding includes Epic training and possible test-out option depending on prior Epic experience.
• Vehicle identification form and Pyxis access request form must be completed prior to start.

Work Environment & Expectations

• Rotating shifts with 12-hour days and mids.
• Floating within surgical specialty as needed.
• On-call and weekend work required.
• Must be able to work holidays as scheduled.
