Description
Surgical Technologist - Contract Position
Location: Atlantic, Iowa
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 06:45 AM – 3:15 PM, Monday to Friday, with rotating on-call duties requiring a 30-minute response time
Hours per Week: 40
Job Description
- Support safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care under RN supervision
- Assist the surgical team with limited direct patient care
- Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures
- Maintain a strong understanding of surgical procedures and anticipate surgeon needs
- Set up, maintain, and protect a sterile field throughout procedures
- Clean, prepare, and package instruments for disinfection and sterilization
- Assist with room turnover between cases, including cleaning and preparing the environment
- Uphold patient safety standards and maintain clinical competencies according to scope and training
- Adhere to AORN Recommended Practices and departmental policies
- Manage time, resources, and supplies responsibly
- Collaborate effectively as a team member
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience
- Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
- Current BLS certification
