Description
Registered Nurse - Med Surg Telemetry
Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Weekly Hours: 36
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Call Requirement: None
Unit and Patient Population
- Pediatric and Adult Medical-Surgical unit (27 beds)
- Trauma Level III facility
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
- Patient population includes general med-surg, pediatrics, hemo and peritoneal dialysis, cardiac drips, post-cardiac procedures
- Common diagnoses: Stroke, congestive heart failure (CHF), atrial fibrillation (A-fib), arrhythmias, cardiac catheterizations/stents
Required Skills and Experience
- Valid RN license in Maine
- Minimum 3 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Proficient in telemetry, post-op catheter care, cardiac drip titration, management and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Experience with Cerner electronic health records system
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Required Certifications
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred but not required
Equipment and Technology
- Sigma Spectrum IV pumps
- Ceiling and portable Hoyer lifts
- Portable cardiac monitoring and defibrillators (x2 for transport)
- EKG machine
- Electronic Health Records: Omnicell, Cerner

- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
- No call requirements
