Description

Ultrasound Tech/Sonographer

Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work a 4x10 schedule (40 hours/week), shift from 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM
  • Call required one weekday per week and every 4th weekend/holiday; call shift hours may vary (M-F until 6pm or 8pm)
  • Float to nearby hospitals as needed
  • Patient load approximately 1 patient per hour
  • Work independently with support from sonographers and radiologists
  • Write preliminary notes on each case

Unit Information

  • Ultrasound department in a Level 3 Trauma community hospital
  • 4 rooms, daily census around 35 patients
  • Patient population includes neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and ER patients
  • Equipment includes portable ultrasound machines (GE brand, SonoSite), PACS system
  • Electronic Health Record system: Cerner

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, including experience within the last year
  • Current BLS certification
  • ARRT – Sonography/RDMS or RDMS certification required
  • Experience working with neonate patients
  • Experience in an outpatient setting
  • Experience with biopsies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatric ultrasound experience, especially with GE pediatric equipment

Common Procedures and Diagnoses

  • Abdominal, pelvic, ectopic pregnancy, scrotal, thyroid, some carotid ultrasounds
  • Paracentesis, fine needle aspiration (FNA), thoracentesis
  • Some obstetrics cases
