Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST/ORT)
Location
- Santa Fe, New Mexico
Employment Type
- Travel contract
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Day shift
- 4 days per week, 10 hours per day
- 1-2 weekend 24-hour call shifts per schedule
- 1-2 call nights per week
- Floating to other departments as needed
Job Summary
- Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients
- Prepare patient skin for surgery following hospital standards
- Maintain aseptic techniques and monitor for breaches
- Provide comfort and support to pre-operative patients with sensitivity to care and privacy
- Transport patients to and from the Operating Room (OR) suite
- Position patients according to the type of surgery
- Identify and care for biological specimens
- Prepare the OR by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the case type
- Establish and maintain sterile field, pass instruments and sutures to physicians, and assist as directed
- Use and update physician preference cards for case setup
- Maintain a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment
- Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for patient and personal safety
- Monitor and control the surgical environment, including traffic control, dress codes, and sanitation policies
- Follow facility policies on decontamination, processing, and sterilization of instruments and supplies
- Adapt patient care methods to meet population-specific and developmental needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent or completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
Licenses & Certifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist credential
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Additional Information
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
- This is a backfill replacement position
- Ability to proficiently scrub in at least 3 specialty areas (e.g., Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, Robotics) is highly preferred
