Description
Occupational Therapist NICU
Location: Salinas, California
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: Approximately 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide Occupational Therapy interventions to NICU patients per referral, including assessment, care planning, patient and family education, scheduling, documentation, and issuing adaptive equipment.
- Deliver age-appropriate care specifically tailored to neonatal intensive care unit patients.
- Train and mentor one full-time Occupational Therapist in NICU practices.
- Assist in orientation of new employees and volunteers.
- Instruct and evaluate therapy and therapy assistant students during clinical affiliations.
- Regularly assume duties of Charge Therapist.
- Collaborate with case managers for referrals to continued therapy services post-discharge.
- Maintain cost-effective treatment plans and adhere to hospital safety standards.
- Provide courteous and professional care to patients, families, and staff.

Required Qualifications
- Must be a licensed Occupational Therapist.
- NICU-specific Occupational Therapy training and experience required.
Experience
- Prior NICU Occupational Therapy experience required.
- Ability to train staff in NICU Occupational Therapy practices is essential.

- Focus on helping patients achieve the highest degree of independence possible.
- Complete all necessary documentation related to patient treatment.
- Ensure department objectives and hospital safety standards are met.
