Required Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) acceptable
• Must have ventilatory skills and be able to work independently
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required
• Prior pediatric experience preferred but not required
• No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers are welcome

Job Details

• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (5:45 PM to 6:15 AM), approximately 36 hours per week
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday coverage as needed
• No supervisor or charge RT on shift; respiratory manager available 24/7 on call for weekends and overnights
• Scheduling managed by respiratory manager who accommodates requests and fills in as needed

Patient Population & Work Environment

• Patient types: Mostly adults; occasional pediatric and neonatal patients in Emergency Department and Labor & Delivery
• Work areas: Inpatient, outpatient, and Emergency Department
• Future potential for cross-training in Sleep Lab, Pulmonary, and Cardiac Rehab

Typical Caseload

• 50-75+ treatments per day depending on census
• Day shifts staffed with 2 RTs inpatient and 1 RT outpatient; night shifts staffed with 1 RT inpatient (may be reduced if census is low)
• One RT assigned to Emergency Department with a lighter load on that day

Job Duties

• Inpatient: Ventilator management, arterial blood gas (ABG) draws, CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, nebulizers, metered-dose inhalers (MDIs), flutter/airway clearance techniques
• Outpatient: Setting up nocturnal pulse oximetry and blood gases
• Intubation: Assist only; independent intubation not required

Equipment Used

• Hamilton Medical C1 & C3 ventilators (BiPAP/CPAP & High Flow O2)
• Masimo SoftFlow High Flows and Masimo Pulse Oximeters
• GEM5000 ABG analyzer
• ResMed bedside CPAP/BiPAP devices

Orientation & Training

• Department-specific orientation lasting 2-3 days
• Night shifts and rotating shifts for coverage

Additional Information

• No specific scrub color or dress code required
• Team-oriented environment with floating assignments to cover different areas as needed
