    Description

    Registered Nurse (L&D/PP/MB) - Travel Assignment

    Location: Canon City, Colorado
    Contract Length: 13 weeks
    Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
    Hours per Week: 36 hours (12-hour shifts)


    Job Overview

    • Work in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Mother-Baby unit.
    • Night shift assignment in a scenic Colorado hospital near the Rockies.
    • Unit includes 4 L&D beds, 1 triage bed, 4 postpartum beds.
    • Approximately 220 births per year.
    • C-section OR suites available on unit.
    • No in-house OB/Neonatologist or anesthesia 24/7.
    • RNs read their own fetal monitoring strips (OBIX system).
    • No tele/monitor techs or nurse aides/surgical techs on unit.
    • Bubble CPAP available for respiratory support.
    • Charge nurse takes patient assignments; house supervisor does not.
    • Minimum staffing usually 2 RNs per shift, sometimes 3.

    Required Qualifications & Certifications

    • Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
    • ACLS (American Heart Association) certification.
    • BLS (American Heart Association) certification.
    • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
    • STABLE certification.
    • Experience with Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) required.
    • Ability to titrate drips including Pitocin, Magnesium, Insulin, and D10.

    Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

    • High BMI patients.
    • Diabetes Mellitus.
    • Substance use/abuse.

    Scheduling & Work Environment

    • Self-scheduling for day and night shifts; manager balances schedules if needed.
    • Weekend requirement: 3 weekends in a 6-week schedule.
    • Rotating holiday schedule.
    • Call rotation based on census; all staff take turns.
    • Floating may be required to assist other departments or within a defined zone if extreme need arises.
    • Unit-specific orientation: 1-2 shifts.
    • Dress code: blue scrubs provided.

    Additional Notes

    • Candidates must be in-state for the week of orientation, even if some modules are remote.
    • Driving license must be submitted; 60-mile radius for travel.
    • Hiring process includes candidate interview and interview with clinical team; no unit manager involvement.
